RESURRECTION & SECOND COMMING

Chapter 5 - Section 1

[John 20:1-17]
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. / So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” / So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. / Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. / He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. / Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, / as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen. / Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. / (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) / Then the disciples went back to where they were staying. Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene / Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb / and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. / They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” / At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. / He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” / Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”). / Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”

[1 Corinthians 15:12-20]
But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? / If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. / And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. / More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. / For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. / And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. / Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. / If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. / But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

[Mark 13: 28-29]
“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. / Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. / He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, / he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake. / Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. / You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. / Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

that I may meditate on your promises.

Chapter 5 - Section 6

[1 Corinthians 13]
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. / If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. / If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. / Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. / It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. / Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. / It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. / Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. / For we know in part and we prophesy in part, / but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. / When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. / For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. / And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

[Matthew 28:5~6]

Come out to meet him!’ / “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. / The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ / “ ‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. / For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. / When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” / “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? / The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. / But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

/ “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice / and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.

[1 Thessalonians 4:13~15]
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. / For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. / According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; / it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; / it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. / So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. / The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. / The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven. / As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven. / And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.

[John 12:47~48]
If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. / There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. / “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand — / then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. / Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. / Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. / How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! / Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. / For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now — and never to be equaled again. / “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. / At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. / For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. / See, I have told you ahead of time. / “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. / For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. / Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather. / “Immediately after the distress of those days “ ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. / “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. / And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of their afflictions and pains, and spreading out their hands toward this temple— / then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” / When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. / And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” / They gave him a piece of broiled fish, / and he took it and ate it in their presence. / He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” / Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. / He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, / and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. / You are witnesses of these things.

People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. / At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

[2 Chronicles 6:35]
then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.

Chapter 5 - Section 33

[Luke 24:26]
Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”

[Mark 8:38]
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

[Psalms 91:15]
He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

Chapter 5 - Section 34

[Luke 20:34~38]
Jesus replied, “The people of this age marry and are given in marriage./ But those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, / and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection. / But in the account of the burning bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ / He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”

[Mark 13:24~26]
“But in those days, following that distress, “ ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; / the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. / “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.

[Psalms 116:1]
I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.

Chapter 5 - Section 35

[Luke 24:50~53]
When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. / While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. / Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. / And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.

[Mark 13:28~30]
“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. / Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. / Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

[Psalms 119:170]
May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise.

Chapter 5 - Section 36

[John 5:24~29]
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. / Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. / For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. / And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.
/ “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice / and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.

[Mark 13:33~37]
Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. / It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. / “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. / If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. / What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’ ”

[Psalms 130:2]
Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.

Chapter 5 - Section 37

[John 6:38~40]
For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. / And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. / For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

[Mark 14:62]
“I am,”said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

[Psalms 144:3]
Lord, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?

Chapter 5 - Section 38

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.

[1 Corinthians 1:7]
Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.

[Psalms 138:2~3]
I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame. / When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me.

Chapter 5 - Section 39

[John 6:54~58]
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. / For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. / Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. / Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. / This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.

[1 Corinthians 4:5]
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

[Psalms 142:1]
I cry aloud to the Lord; I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy.

Chapter 5 - Section 40

[John 13:1]
It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

[1 Corinthians 15:20~24]
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. / For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. / For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. / But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. / Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.

[Daniel 9:17]
Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary.

Chapter 5 - Section 41

[Philippians 4:13]
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

[John 14:2~4]
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? / And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. / You know the way to the place where I am going.

[1 Corinthians 5:1~2]
It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. / And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this?

[2 Chronicles 6:19]
Yet, Lord my God, give attention to your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence.

Chapter 5 - Section 42

[John 20:17]
Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”

[1 Thessalonians 5:23]
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

[Daniel 9:19]
Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.

Chapter 5 - Section 43

[Romans 8:18~23]
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. / For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. / For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope / that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. / We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. / Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.

[1 Corinthians 5:3~6]
For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this. / So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, / hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. / Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?

[Daniel 9:19]
Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.

Chapter 5 - Section 44

[Romans 6:4~9]
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
/ For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. / For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— / because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. / Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. / For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.

[1 Thessalonians 2:19~20]
For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? / Indeed, you are our glory and joy.

[Deuteronomy 32:28]
They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them.

Chapter 5 - Section 45

[1 Corinthians 6:13~20]
You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. / By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. / Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! / Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” / But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. / Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. / Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; / you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

[2 Thessalonians 1:10]
on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

[Deuteronomy 32:29]
If only they were wise and would understand this and discern what their end will be!

Chapter 5 - Section 46

[1 Corinthians 4:5]
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

[2 Thessalonians 1:7~9]
and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. / He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. / They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might

[Deuteronomy 32:30]
How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the Lord had given them up?

Chapter 5 - Section 47

[1 Corinthians 15:21~28]
For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. / For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. / But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. / Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. / For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. / The last enemy to be destroyed is death. / For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. / When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.

[2 Thessalonians 2:1~8]
Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, / not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. / Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. / He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
/ Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? / And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. / For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. / And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.

[Nehemiah 5:19]
Remember me with favor, my God, for all I have done for these people.

Chapter 5 - Section 48

[1 Corinthians 15:29~32]
Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them? / And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? / I face death every day—yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord. / If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”

[2 Timothy 4:8]
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

[Job 7:7]
Remember, O God, that my life is but a breath; my eyes will never see happiness again.

Chapter 5 - Section 49

[2 Corinthians 5:1~10]
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. / Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, / because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. / For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. / Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. / Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. / For we live by faith, not by sight. / We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. / So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. / For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

[Colossians 3:4]
When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

[Psalms 40:5]
Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.

Chapter 5 - Section 50

[1 Peter 4:5~6]
But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. / For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.

[Philippians 4:5]
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

[Philippians 3:20~21]
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, / who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

[Psalms 48:9]
Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love.

Chapter 5 - Section 52

[Acts 10:39~43]
“We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a cross, / but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. / He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. / He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. / All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

[1 Peter 4:7]
The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.

[Psalms 50:21]
When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you.

[Isaiah 40:31]
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

[Acts 17:31~32]
For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.” / When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.”

[2 Peter 3:8~14]
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. / The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. / But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. / Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives / as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. / But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. / So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

[Psalms 50:22]
“Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:

And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. / (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. / Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. / For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
(For yours is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen.)
